Perfect explanation of how to properly use refs! I always endorse using references. A ref is what pushes an image past being ok to being AMAZING! It’s not a bad thing that you need to google how a gun looks. Or how a belt looks. Or even how that hand looks in that crazy pose you just drew. It’s how many artists do things, even uber professionals do it. Because why would you give a client something with half assed anatomy?
